Spanish Tutor

Autumn Yates is a Spanish Teacher with 16 years of teaching experience in independent schools throughout the greater DC area. Most recently, she has served as an elementary and middle school Spanish Teacher at The Langley School in McLean, Virginia for the past six years. Though she has spent the majority of her career working with elementary and middle school students, Autumn has experience working with high school and college students as well. She is passionate about making the Spanish language accessible and relevant to all of her students, regardless of age or level, and she loves incorporating culture and authentic resources into her lessons.

Autumn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish from Gettysburg College and a Master’s Degree in Spanish and Pedagogy from the University of Delaware. She has completed additional graduate level coursework in such topics as Teaching Across Cultures and Teaching Languages Online. Autumn has attended and presented at World Language conferences at both the state and national level. She has traveled extensively in Spain and taken courses in such cities as Seville, Granada, Madrid, and Salamanca. Autumn also was the recipient of a nationwide scholarship that allowed her to complete a two-week course in Cuernavaca, Mexico.

Though originally from New York, Autumn currently resides in Northern Virginia with her husband and two daughters. When not teaching, she enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, and blogging about her family’s adventures.
