Giancarlo Ramirez

English/Executive Functioning Coaching

Giancarlo is completing his sixth year as an English teacher. While he spent two years teaching English across the bridge in Wicomico County, Montgomery County has always been his home. Now finishing up his second year at Walter Johnson High School, Giancarlo specializes in 9th grade Honors English, but he also has experience teaching 11th and 12th Grade English, with a focus on close reading skills and argumentative writing.

Born and raised in Montgomery County and an MCPS graduate, Giancarlo always knew he wanted to come back and give children the same positive and rewarding experience he had as a student at Paint Branch High School. He earned his Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary English while starting out as one of the varsity swim coaches at his alma mater and then as a long-term substitute teacher in MCPS, with stints at Burtonsville Elementary, Silver Creek Middle, Quince Orchard High, Paint Branch High School, and more. He has experience teaching children from a diverse set of backgrounds and irrespective of their interest level in reading or writing, Giancarlo tries to get his students to understand the real-world connection and importance of how to read and write critically.

When Giancarlo isn’t teaching, you’ll find him in the kitchen testing out new recipes, playing online multiplayer games with his friends, or hanging out and watching a movie or show with his girlfriend Abby, and their dog, Otis.
