Maggie Cardova
3rd-5th Grade Reading and Writing Specialist
Maggie is a 3rd-5th grade reading and writing specialist. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Missouri State University in 2013 and an ESL certification while teaching in Texas. She taught all subjects in the 3rd and 4th grade, but spent most of her time in the English/language arts. While in the classroom, she adapted lessons and instruction to meet the diverse needs of her students. She taught in whole groups, small groups, and in one-on-one formats. Her students included English language learners, children with learning disabilities, and gifted and talented students.
Maggie is passionate about helping young readers build confidence and better their writing skills. Her experience in the classroom can help students tap into their potential and open doors for a lifetime of love for reading and proficiency in writing. Her preferred method of instruction involves digging deep into a text, while stopping to decipher unknown words, and asking/answering questions about the topic, main idea, author’s purpose, and figures of speech. She can also assist with homework, school appointed projects, and test preparation.
In her free time, Maggie enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, baking, and reading. She is also in two book clubs and firmly believes that everyone can love to read- they just need to find the right book. Let her help your child in igniting their passion for reading and writing.
