Nora Brennan
Writing/History/Executive Functioning Coach
Nora Brennan has been a high school history teacher since 2001. She has worked in both public and private high schools teaching students ranging from 9th to 12th grade. During her tenure, Nora has worked with a wide-variety of learners curating her lessons to meet their unique needs. She believes that with structure and breaking down higher cognitive skills into manageable components, all students can realize their potential. In this way, she helps students cultivate their organizational and executive functioning skills. She is particularly interested in helping students develop their reading comprehension, research, and writing skills. Most importantly, she wants to help students appreciate the power and joy of learning.
Currently, Nora teaches US History and IB History 20th Century World History at Washington International School. Prior to working at Washington International School, she worked with Fairfax County Public Schools teaching Ancient History and Geography, Modern World History & Geography, and AP European History. She has spent her career helping students excel on high stakes tests like the IB and AP exams as well as the Virginia SOLs. She loves history and shares her enthusiasm for the discipline with her students.
Nora holds a B.A. in History from Franklin & Marshall College and a M.Ed in Secondary Education from Boston College.
