Riley Bartlebaugh

English Tutor

Riley is a three time graduate from the University of Maryland and holds a BA in English Language and Literature, a BA in Theatre, and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. Upon graduation, Riley moved to Massachusetts to work with the actors and scholars at Shakespeare & Company. Working alongside Denis Krausnick, expert on Shakespeare’s first folio, Riley helped to facilitate the company’s actor training program. Riley also served as a teaching artist in the 2015 Fall Festival of Shakespeare, a program in which the Shakespeare & Company partners with public schools in Massachusetts and New York to bring Shakespeare to life for students. In 2016 Riley returned to the DC area and continued to work as a Teaching Artist with Adventure Theatre and Signature Theatre. After seeing how transformative language can be for students, Riley decided to transition to teaching full time with MCPS. Over the years, Riley has taught AP Language & Composition, Honors English 11, Honors English 9, and will be establishing the AP Capstone Program at Winston Churchill High School. While Riley has a passion for Shakespeare, they are also enthusiastic about teaching analytic, argumentative, and narrative writing, literature analysis, and executive skill building. When not celebrating the joys of the written word, you can find Riley cycling, playing board games, and going on long walks with their wife and dog.
