Vas Pournaras is a kindergarten teacher with 17 years of experience working with children in preschool through lower elementary. He holds a BS in Communication Studies with a focus in conflict resolution from James Madison University and is about to finish his M.Ed. (May 2022) in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Educational Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University. Vas received a certificate from the Harvard Graduate School of Education for completing coursework in “Creating Culture of Thinking.” He has completed his Comprehensive training in the Orton-Gillingham method of reading intervention in addition to focused Phonological Awareness training. Vas believes in the importance of teaching foundational language arts skills and the power that phonological awareness plays in the early years.
Besides his work in education, Vas enjoys spending time with his family of three exploring local parks and playgrounds, visiting museum exhibits, strolling through farmers markets, going out to eat, spending quality time with friends, and traveling.
