About Rachel
Rachel taught ninth and eleventh grade honors English, AP Language & Composition, and International Baccalaureate (IB) English at Bethesda Chevy-Chase and Walter Johnson High Schools for a combined 11 years. Rachel has tutored students in grades 7-12 for over a decade covering general writing assistance, executive functioning, college essay writing, study and organizational strategies, SAT and ACT tutoring, and grammar instruction. She also sponsored the award winning literary arts magazine (Chips), which earned her an invite to speak at the Columbia University scholastic conference, where she addressed leadership best practices for literary arts magazines.
While Rachel’s true passion is student interaction and the vibrancy of the high school classroom, she also had the opportunity to serve as the Middle Years Program (MYP) coordinator at Westland Middle School, where she designed curriculum and trained teachers on the core objectives of the MYP.
Rachel holds a Masters of Science degree in School Administration and Leadership from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor's Degree in English with a Minor in Education from Bucknell University, where she graduated Cum Laude. Rachel also studied at Oxford University and at the Advanced Studies in English program in Bathe, England. Rachel resides in Cabin John, Maryland and is the proud mother of Levi and Aria. When she’s not teaching, she loves playing with her children, exercising, being outside, and spending time with her husband.
