Alex Grant

Alex Grant is an educator, Learning Support Specialist, Director of Student Activities, and athletics coach at Edmund Burke School in Washington, D.C. In his role as Learning Support Specialist, he works closely with students to address a wide range of learning needs, helping them develop the academic strategies, organization, and confidence they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom. As Director of Student Activities, he mentors student leaders while supporting student government, clubs, and school-wide initiatives that foster engagement and community.

Alex grew up in the DMV and overseas before graduating from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Dickinson College and a Master of Public Policy from American University, where he served as both a research assistant and mentor.

With several years of experience as an English language instructor and tutor in both Washington, D.C., and abroad, Alex has developed a passion for helping students become more confident, capable learners. He teaches senior seminar courses in which students develop and write 15-page research papers, giving him extensive experience guiding students through every stage of the writing process—from brainstorming and organization to research, revision, and polished final drafts.

Alex enjoys supporting students in reading, writing, math, and executive functioning, tailoring each session to meet their individual learning styles, interests, and goals. He believes that fostering a positive, engaging learning environment helps students build lasting confidence while developing the skills they need for long-term academic success.

Outside of school, Alex enjoys camping, exploring record stores, and cheering on Washington, D.C.'s sports teams.
