Andy Coreas
English/Spanish/Executive Functioning Coach
Andy Coreas has been a classroom teacher for 4 four years and is currently at Rocky Hill Middle
School serving as an 8th grade English teacher. Andy comes from the Montgomery County
area, so he is very familiar with the needs that students in this area have in order to become
successful academics. Teaching grades 6, 8 and 9 in his career so far, Andy has seen the
diversity of demographics and needs all throughout his classes.
Andy’s teaching philosophy is centered around the student and the specific needs for that
student. No two students are the same, so he wants to ensure that each person he works with
gets a learning experience catered to their specific personality, strengths, and areas of growth.
Andy excels at creating personal relationships that grant a student confidence and comfort as
they learn, while also being challenged to think deeper about different concepts and subjects.
With his endless well of corny jokes and the ability to relate to his students, Andy has developed
a classroom culture where every student wants to be because they understand that learning
here will be fun and challenging, all at the same time.
Andy earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland degrees in English and
Secondary Education. Being a first generation American, who is fluent in both Spanish and
English, Andy meets the needs of many students from diverse backgrounds. Andy plans to
continue his educational pursuits by earning several Master’s degrees in several
concentrations,, including in Curriculum Development and Educational Leadership, with the
hope to affect a wider range of the educational system.
