Deanna Mavis

Deanna is an international teacher, having lived and worked in five different countries!

Deanna started teaching nearly twenty years ago in her home state of Pennsylvania. She attended University of Miami, studying English, Psychology, Italian, and Dance. She spent the next ten years in Europe – Italy, Germany, Czechia, and Hungary. Initially an ESL teacher, she eventually branched out to include native speakers’ literature, humanities, science and even design. After the pandemic, Deanna returned to Florida and taught Middle Grades Science for two years. Now in Maryland, she tutors in a variety of subjects, including standardized test prep.

Deanna has experience as both an editor and ghost writer. Her published works include young adult fiction and mental health/self-help content.

When she’s not working, Deanna loves to read, dance, and build with LEGO. She has an entire closet dedicated to arts and crafts. She’s also mother to a 7-pound, smart-but-silly, Biewer Terrier named Vinny.
