Lisa Sorensen

College Admissions Consulting/English/Executive Functioning Coaching

Raised primarily in Bethesda, Lisa spent several years living abroad. She graduated from University of Maryland with a degree in Secondary English Education, Summa Cum Laude. Lisa also taught English at several MCPS schools including Walt Whitman HS. Lisa a earned a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from John’s Hopkins University and has been a school counselor for over 20 years in MCPS. She is a member of the American School Counseling association and the Maryland School Counseling Association. Lisa is a mother of adult twins, a dog lover, a cycling enthusiast and a world traveler. Lisa's passion is helping students discover their passions, create their own path, and explore the possibilities!

As a college advisor, Lisa helps students find the best fit using tools to identify a list of schools, review high school transcripts/advise on course selections, support students as they write their college essay/supplemental essays/scholarship essays/honors program essays, navigate the Common App--from start to finish, apply to military academies and complete ROTC applications, assist with study abroad applications, create timelines/checklists/planning and execute the process, offer scholarship/financial aid topics and strategies, and manage the FAFSA and CSS.
